Hermanos Lejanos Golf Club Bylaws
Article I – Name and Purpose

Name: The name of this organization shall be Hermanos Lejanos Golf Club.

Purpose: The Club is organized exclusively for recreational and social purposes, specifically to:

Promote the game of golf among its members.

Foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and mutual respect.

Organize tournaments, events, and activities for members.

Article II – Membership

Eligibility: Membership shall be open to individuals who:

Are invited by existing members.
-
Agree to abide by these bylaws and club rules.

All members must establish and maintain a handicap with USGA
-

Classes of Membership:
-
Regular Members: Full privileges including voting rights.
-
Honorary Members: Granted by the Board; no voting rights.

Dues: Annual dues shall be determined by the Board and payable by January 31 each year.

Termination: Membership may be terminated for:

Non-payment of dues.
-
Conduct detrimental to the Club.

Article III – Governance
-
Board of Directors: The Club shall be governed by a Board consisting of:

President

Vice President
-
Secretary
-
Treasurer

Election: Officers shall be elected annually by majority vote of Regular Members.

Duties:

President: Presides over meetings, represents the Club.
-
Vice President: Assists President, assumes duties in absence.

Secretary: Maintains records, minutes, and correspondence.

Treasurer: Manages finances, prepares annual report.

Article IV – Meetings
-
Annual Meeting: Held in January to elect officers and review Club activities.
-
Special Meetings: May be called by the President or majority of the Board.

Quorum: A quorum shall consist of 50% of Regular Members.
Article V – Committees

Tournament Committee: Organizes golf events and competitions.
-
Membership Committee: Reviews applications and recommends new members.
-
Social Committee: Plans social gatherings and events.
Article VI – Amendments

These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of Regular Members present at any meeting, provided notice of the proposed amendment is given at least 14 days prior.
Article VII – Dissolution

Upon dissolution, any remaining assets shall be distributed equally among Regular Members or donated to a golf-related charitable organization.
Article VIII – Member Conduct

General Expectations: All members shall conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Hermanos Lejanos Golf Club and its values of respect, integrity, and sportsmanship.

On-Course Behavior:

Observe all golf etiquette and safety rules.
-
Maintain pace of play and respect other players.
-
Care for the course (repair divots, rake bunkers, etc.).
-

Off-Course Behavior:
-
Treat fellow members, guests, and staff with courtesy.
-
Avoid any behavior that could harm the reputation of the Club.

Prohibited Conduct:
-
Harassment, discrimination, or abusive language.
-
Excessive intoxication or disorderly behavior.
-
Damage to Club property or facilities.
-

Disciplinary Action:
-
Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or termination of membership, as determined by the Board after due process.

Article VIII – Guest Policy

Purpose: The Club welcomes guests to promote fellowship and introduce prospective members to the Club.

Eligibility of Guests:
-
Guests must be introduced by a Regular Member.
-

Conduct:
-
Guests must adhere to all Club rules and etiquette.
-
The sponsoring member is responsible for the guest’s behavior and any damages incurred.

Prospective Members:
-
Guests interested in membership may apply through the Membership Committee after two visits.
-
Article IX – Dress Code

Purpose: To maintain the traditions and standards of the game of golf and ensure a respectful environment.
-
On the Course:
-
Men: Collared golf shirts, tailored shorts or pants. No denim, tank tops, or athletic gym wear.
-
Women: Golf shirts (collared or sleeveless with collar), golf skirts, shorts, or pants. No denim, halter tops, or gym wear.
-

Enforcement:
-
Members are responsible for ensuring their guests comply with the dress code.
-
Violations may result in denial of play or access to facilities.

Article X Charitable Contributions
