Article I – Name and Purpose

1. Name: The name of this organization shall be Hermanos Lejanos Golf Club.

2. Purpose: The Club is organized exclusively for recreational and social purposes, specifically to:

   1. Promote the game of golf among its members.

   2. Foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and mutual respect.

   3. Organize tournaments, events, and activities for members.

Article II – Membership

1. Eligibility: Membership shall be open to individuals who:

   1. Are invited by existing members.

   2. Agree to abide by these bylaws and club rules.

   3. All members must establish and maintain a handicap with USGA

2. Classes of Membership:

   1. Regular Members: Full privileges including voting rights.

   2. Honorary Members: Granted by the Board; no voting rights.

3. Dues: Annual dues shall be determined by the Board and payable by January 31 each year.

4. Termination: Membership may be terminated for:

   1. Non-payment of dues.

   2. Conduct detrimental to the Club.

Article III – Governance

1. Board of Directors: The Club shall be governed by a Board consisting of:

   1. President

   2. Vice President

   3. Secretary

   4. Treasurer

2. Election: Officers shall be elected annually by majority vote of Regular Members.

3. Duties:

   1. President: Presides over meetings, represents the Club.

   2. Vice President: Assists President, assumes duties in absence.

   3. Secretary: Maintains records, minutes, and correspondence.

   4. Treasurer: Manages finances, prepares annual report.

Article IV – Meetings

1. Annual Meeting: Held in January to elect officers and review Club activities.

2. Special Meetings: May be called by the President or majority of the Board.

3. Quorum: A quorum shall consist of 50% of Regular Members.

Article V – Committees

1. Tournament Committee: Organizes golf events and competitions.

2. Membership Committee: Reviews applications and recommends new members.

3. Social Committee: Plans social gatherings and events.

Article VI – Amendments

1. These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of Regular Members present at any meeting, provided notice of the proposed amendment is given at least 14 days prior.

Article VII – Dissolution

1. Upon dissolution, any remaining assets shall be distributed equally among Regular Members or donated to a golf-related charitable organization.

Article VIII – Member Conduct

1. General Expectations: All members shall conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Hermanos Lejanos Golf Club and its values of respect, integrity, and sportsmanship.

2. On-Course Behavior: 

   1. Observe all golf etiquette and safety rules.

   2. Maintain pace of play and respect other players.

   3. Care for the course (repair divots, rake bunkers, etc.).

3. Off-Course Behavior: 

   1. Treat fellow members, guests, and staff with courtesy.

   2. Avoid any behavior that could harm the reputation of the Club.

4. Prohibited Conduct: 

   1. Harassment, discrimination, or abusive language.

   2. Excessive intoxication or disorderly behavior.

   3. Damage to Club property or facilities.

5. Disciplinary Action: 

   1. Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or termination of membership, as determined by the Board after due process.

 

Article VIII – Guest Policy

1. Purpose: The Club welcomes guests to promote fellowship and introduce prospective members to the Club.

2. Eligibility of Guests: 

   1. Guests must be introduced by a Regular Member.

3. Conduct: 

   1. Guests must adhere to all Club rules and etiquette.

   2. The sponsoring member is responsible for the guest’s behavior and any damages incurred.

4. Prospective Members: 

   1. Guests interested in membership may apply through the Membership Committee after two visits.

 

Article IX – Dress Code

1. Purpose: To maintain the traditions and standards of the game of golf and ensure a respectful environment.

2. On the Course: 

   1. Men: Collared golf shirts, tailored shorts or pants. No denim, tank tops, or athletic gym wear.

   2. Women: Golf shirts (collared or sleeveless with collar), golf skirts, shorts, or pants. No denim, halter tops, or gym wear.

3. Enforcement: 

   1. Members are responsible for ensuring their guests comply with the dress code.

   2. Violations may result in denial of play or access to facilities.

 

Article X Charitable Contributions

    1. Are to be proposed and voted on by the club
